END OF AN ERA AS ACOSTA AND FERNANDEZ COMPLETE FINAL RACE WITH RED BULL GASGAS TECH3

Jorge Martin is our new 2024 MotoGP™ World Champion! The whole Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 crew would like to congratulate Jorge and his team Prima Pramac Racing on an amazing season! An intense 2024 season came to an end Sunday at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona, with both Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez racing for the last time with the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 squad. MotoGP’s sensation Acosta claimed the 10th place in Barcelona to finish his rookie season in 6th. Fernandez saw his final checkered flag with the team in 19th, to round up 2024 in P20 in the championship.

Pedro Acosta is officially not a learner anymore! The shark’s amazing rookie campaign came to a close on Sunday in Barcelona, after the #31 bagged another top 10 in the ultimate race of the season. The Tissot Sprint from Saturday having left him with no chance, Acosta was eager to try transforming his 6th place on the grid into a final good result. As lights were out for the last time of 2024, Acosta took a solid start to 5th after the first few turns, but was quickly overtaken by Aleix Espargaro, to exit the opening lap in P6, with Franco Morbidelli close behind. Positions settled for a bit, but soon Alex Marquez was close to the back wheel of Pedro. After a great battle for 6th, Marquez got the final say, and Pedro was in 7th after 7 laps. The next lap, he was 6th after Bastianini dropped a few positions. Ten laps done, and the positions remained pretty much the same. The Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 was still up in 6th while Francesco Bagnia kept leading ahead of Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin. However, we started seeing the young shark lose some rhythm, which allowed Brad Binder to overcome his future teammate. On the straight line entering lap 18, Binder overtook Acosta, and soon, it was Morbidelli who moved past Acosta, now in P9. With just 4 laps to go, Marco Bezzecchi was close behind, 0.5 seconds. Pedro tried to hold his ground, but was eventually overtaken in the final lap by the Italian. That’s P10 for Acosta on his final round, who ended the championship in 6th after an incredible first season in the premier class.

Augusto Fernandez was racing for the last time too with Red Bull GASGAS Tech3. Starting from P21 on the grid, Augusto took a decent start to P18 in one lap, 17th in two laps, and then 16th after lap 3 after Maverick Vinales had dropped from row 3. The Spaniard found himself in 15th after 5 laps after making a move on Alex Rins. Helped by Joan Mir’s crash, Augusto sat in 14th after 7 laps complete, where he settled behind Jack Miller, 1.5 seconds behind. As the laps went by, the gap to Miller grew with Fernandez clearly struggling with grip. We started seeing him drop from lap 12, to eventually finish in 19th. Augusto Fernandez completes 2024 20th in the championship, after a season with highs and lows, but the team will never forget Augusto’s dedication to the project, and all the hard work he has achieved in the last two seasons. Thank you Augusto!

That’s a wrap for 2024 for Red Bull GASGAS Tech3, a season during which we felt very lucky to have played a small part in the journey of Pedro Acosta. 5 podiums, 4 sprint medals and a pole position are memories we will cherish forever, and we wish him the best of luck with Red Bull KTM Factory.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 staff for their relentless work and passion during this year! A new chapter awaits us on Monday as we return two KTM orange with an exciting 2025 line-up.

"A bit of a disappointing race for us, we had some issues with braking which we’ll need to understand, but I am happy to have finished the race anyway. It was a season with high and lows, some really good results, and some frustrating moments with mistakes made, but it was a very positive season in general. I am happy to start another chapter, just next door though as I remain in the family, but I am leaving some people. From the first day I felt welcomed, the mechanics and everyone else around were good to me, so I will forever have in my heart my first season in MotoGP with Tech3."

"In the warm up this morning, we found something interesting that we thought would be better for the race, but unfortunately, the feeling was like the rest of the weekend. I got a good start, I was in a good position after a few laps, but somehow, I had no feeling with the rear tyre. It is not the way we wanted to finish the season, but it is like this. We have a new chapter, different, awaiting us now, so let’s continue fighting for our goals!"

"We did not finish this last race in the way we were dreaming of, but P10 is still a good result. It was an unbelievable rookie season with Pedro Acosta, with 5 podiums on Sunday, 4 in the sprint. It was a season full of emotions, he showed us incredible speed, but it was also a rollercoaster with a few mistakes made, and many learnings. He has a bright future, we feel like we have accomplished our mission with him, and we wish Pedro the best for next season. Augusto Fernandez showed some speed again today, but unfortunately he could not convert it into a good position, which is frustrating again. That is the end of a difficult championship for Augusto, he fought all year to try recovering a good feeling, regaining confidence, but it never came. We also wish him the best for his future. Thanks to the whole Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team for their hardwork. We still have two days in Barcelona, and then everyone will be able to get a much deserved winter break."
