#AustralianGP - October 14, 2024

Did you miss us? Another exciting tripleheader of MotoGP™ action is just around the corner after a small week of rest for the troops, either spent back at home for some, or discovering new places for the others. Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 is travelling to Phillip Island in Australia, one of the most liked destinations of the calendar, for round 17, the Qatar Airways Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, with a title fight more open than ever. Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will be excited for the challenges ahead, with 4.448 km of fast and slow turns on the cliffs overlooking the surf beaches and undulations.

Rested and more motivated than ever for the final four rounds of his impressive rookie season in the premier class, Pedro Acosta will be looking to continue on his good-form in Phillip Island. The outcomes of both the sprint and the main race were for sure not the ones expected in Motegi two weeks ago, but the young Shark showcased once more his competitiveness as he grabbed his maiden pole position in MotoGP™, and there is no doubt that he will be hungry for big points after two double DNFs at the last round.

Augusto Fernandez will be seeking for a fresh start after a disappointing first tripleheader, tainted by a mix of bad luck and mistakes. There were positives from the last round in Japan though, after the Spaniard tried a quite different bike set up to help him feel more comfortable, but all what's needed now for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider is to be able to complete the races, one thing that he will be looking to do in Phillip Island, with the hope to qualify in the top 15 to be able to finish in the point-scoring positions.

Watch out for your alarms again as there will be ‘quite a big’ time difference if you are following us from Europe. The Australian Grand Prix action will start on Friday with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 local time (GMT+11), which will be followed in the afternoon by the Practice session at 15:00 LT. Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez will then be back in action for a busy Super Saturday, with the qualifying sessions starting at 10:50 LT, both preceded by FP2 at 10:10 LT.  In the afternoon, the Tissot Sprint will see MotoGP™ riders race for thirteen laps at 15:00 (GMT+11), and the main showdown will be on Sunday with the main race at 14:00 (GMT+11). Hoping to see many Aussies show us some support!

"It's been a good week at home after so many races and trips, I've been able to rest, disconnect, and also train where I like the most. We have 4 very intense Grands Prix left and we will finish our first season as a MotoGP rider, I hope to continue in the same dynamic as the weekend of Motegi, but saving the crashes! Australia is the first weekend of the 4 remaining and it's a circuit that I love, it's the most demanding of the championship and I hope I can have a good result there. The only handicap in Australia for a guy from Mazarron is the cold... but we will try to fight it!"

"We are heading to one of my favorite tracks of the calendar, Phillip Island is so special and it is amazing to ride there. The last rounds were not easy, but we continue to remain motivated. We had some positives in Japan that we just need to apply and turn into results, so let's do everything to be more competitive in Australia."

Team Manager
"We are now about to start the second and final tripleheader of the season with the traditional Australian Grand Prix at the mythical circuit of Phillip Island. This anticlock layout is considered by MotoGP riders as one of the most beautiful layouts of the year. It is also one of these old style tracks with its fast corners, usually requiring riders to go all in with all their heart, and where the Pierer Mobility bikes performed well last year. Pedro Acosta left Japan with a double DNF and frustration rate at its maximum level, as he was one of the fastest all weekend. It is quite clear that Pedro is feeling really well at the moment, he has understood the bike pretty well, and we know he will want to make up for the previous round, and Phillip Island should be a good place to do it. Augusto Fernandez has experienced another black weekend in Japan, but Australia is such an atypical track where he felt fast in 2023, where he should not suffer the issues encountered lately."
