Starting from 19th on the grid, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Iker Lecuona didn’t face an easy task in today’s Gran Premi de Catalunya. Following difficult practices, the MotoGP rookie was targeting to regain his confidence aboard the KTM RC16 and gain some experience in the ultra-competitive premier class. Eventually, Lecuona did a consistent race, making up several positions and finally crossed the line in 14th, which earns him two World Championship points.
With a fantastic FP3 in his pocket, Miguel Oliveira went full of confidence in today’s Qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He concluded the three Free Practices in third overall, went directly to Q2 and was working on his race pace during FP4. Unfortunately, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider had a minor fall at the beginning of Q2, which robbed him off the chances to be right in the mix at the end. Yet, the Portuguese was 12th fastest and will start the eighth round of 2020 from row four.
The Gran Premi de Cataluya got off a tricky start for the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team today. While Iker Lecuona did his first laps around the Cirucit de Barcelona-Catalunya, he managed to improve his lap time from FP1 to FP2 by 0.769 seconds, but also recorded a minor fall in both sessions. The premier class rookie concluded day one just 0.369 seconds behind the top 10.
