Miguel Oliveira and Hafizh Syahrin were back on track today under the amazing floodlights of the Losail International Circuit to start their ultimate preparations ahead of the 2019 MotoGP season.

During this intense first day, MotoGP rookie Oliveira completed 42 laps and missed out on the top 10 by just 0.724 seconds. Meanwhile Malaysian star Syahrin lapped the circuit 44 times to eventually terminate day one only 0.568 seconds behind his teammate.

“The first day felt quite short, to be honest. We started a bit later because of the track conditions, but finally we could manage to do some work on the bike. We tested two completely different settings looking for a little bit of stability on the rear and more drive out of the corners. So far, I’m happy with the work. Unfortunately, we only used one set of soft tyres, so finally the lap time was probably not what it should have been at the end. Anyway, we worked a lot and I’m already looking forward to tomorrow.”

“We were trying to improve on the last test in Sepang today. We didn’t experiment a lot on the bike, I just tried to further get used to the KTM, working on changing my style. I know, that I’m still a bit far from the front, but we keep on working on the feeling on the bike. At the moment I still have my last years’ style, therefore I have to adapt. I felt it has been already better than in Malaysia. With the soft tyre, which we didn’t evaluate today, I hope we can improve our lap time tomorrow, plus we will try to change some settings.”
